The beauty of the women of Linz gets into raptures and generalized in the literary since the 16th century. The most famous pictures of the “Schönen Linzerin” are approximately 200 and 100 years old – the copperplate engraving from J. Waldherr (1810) and the photograph of August Sandner (1905). Again 100 years later Irene Andessner works out a new interpretation of the archetypical portrait of the Linzer women and writes the historical iconography contemporary on. Under the impression of the, in the new millennium culturally blossomed out and architectural illuminated city Linz a new portrait was created which called the names of 111 “Linzer” women – standing for all women and they aglow in the fall of the cultural capital of Europe – Linz09 in 111 light boxes in the town.
