Katharina Karner – Artist’s statement

I’m dealing with traditions and rituals, memories and history. My aim is to question the private relicts of history, as they can be found in every household – such as old photos, souvenirs, decorative stuff, paintings, etc – and to reinterpret it. Doing this, I’m aware to deal with relicts, that means with what is left from a long gone period, present still in some memories maybe, but close to lose it’s original meaning because of those dying who bought / got / owned this item.
