Jennifer Nehrbass´s hyperrealist paintings do seem on the one hand as if they could be taken from a real happening, yet the photo real women are always set into a nearly surreal scenery. Her work deals with the issue of gender and women´s psychology, yet in a very personal and not strictly "theoretical" way. Her hyper real form catches glances, whilst her surrealistic scenery gives room for thoughts. The relationships of women to themselves and their environment fuel the narratives of her paintings.
